A tiger belonging to a rare species in the remote jungles of Indonesia has been destroying surveillance cameras, the environmental group WWF says.
WWF had been puzzled by how several heat-sensitive photo traps had been destroyed after a very rare Sumatran tiger was photographed passing by.
The tiger was frightened by the camera's flash and that's what prompted the destruction of the cameras, accroding to the WWF. Sumatran tigers are on close watch particularly because there are believed to be less than 500 of them left in the wild.
This incident was the first in which a camera was destroyed by a tiger- in the past, loggers and poachers have destroyed WWF's cameras.
Pretty smart tiger. If I were in its shoes I'd probably do the same.. having that flash at you has got to be annyoing and frightening if you don't know what that is. It all seems a bit intrusive to me but I suppose their watch is all for a good cause. Hopefully they are able to save these beautiful creatures from extinction.
