Parents held for neglect, after their 6-week- old puppy gnaw's off their infant's toes... as they slept.
It's unfortunate that this was a pit puppy...they have enough of a bad rap as it is. I have to wonder if they parents would be prosecuted if the breed was something else.
I have background in the veterinary field - and I agree that it was likely nursing behavior. It could have been any breed. It is also important to realize that a puppy that young has no inkling of how to be aggressive in any way. He's a baby too.
Too bad it happened though - really sad. I hope the parents are let out of it and soon. I doubt that anything will happen to the pup, regardless of what the article says. I heard this story this morning from other sources. . . this particular article has this menacing tone that I find a little irresponsible. For example, it states that there has been no decision on the fate of the puppy . . . but the tone of other reports doesn't even imply that destroying the puppy was even considered. I find that kind of reporting offensive.
