article imageMore Then 3000 Octopus Eggs Starting to Hatch at Oregon Aquarium

By Telafree     Nov 27, 2006 in Technology
The Seaside Aquarium in Oregon is experiencing the birth of possibly 3000 baby Octopus.
A female octopus has laid almost 3000 eggs that have started to hatch into baby octopuses. 20 of the 3000 eggs laid have already started to hatch. Once the babies are hatched the mom will die shortly afterwards so the display at the aquarium will last depending on how long the mother lives. The octopus eggs are the size of a rice grain and in a picture of the jumble of eggs, the black spots are actually the eyes of the coming baby. This is a once in a lifetime experience and is really a wonderful thing to see.
