With 57 sold every second, what effect did the 60 year-old pen have on society?
In 1938, Hungarian newspaper journalist Laszlo Biro noticed the ink used on the printing presses dried quickly and so tried using it in a fountain pen to avoid the problem of leaks, blots and smudges.
I don't know what our daily life might be like without the ballpoint pen. Think about how many times a day you cross paths with one.
