A man who was held in Guantanamo Bay for no reason says he was sold to Americans. Apparently he had some evidence about activities of the CIA in Europe and that may have been the reason for his being jailed.
A man who was held without reason in Guantanamo prison for years spoke to the European Parliament In Brussels on Wednesday. He told the EP that he was sold by Pakistani police to the Americans. "They caught me and sold me to the Americans for 3000 or 5000 dollars," Murat Kurnaz said. His reason for traveling to Pakiston in the months following the 911 attack on New York "to find himself and deepen his faith" when arrested by the police in Pakistan. He was traveling through Pakistan near the end of the year in 2001. Krunaz is one of the first people to give evidence directly to the European Parliament of illegal practice by the CIA in Europe. The Turkish-German Kurnaz was ignored for years as the Germans did nothing to help his plight. His lawyer said no evidence was given to justify his being placed in jail at one of the most notorious prisons in the world. Bernhard Docke, Murat's lawyers said
that no official explanations have been given for his release last August, either from the American or the German side.
