The Conservative opposition leader John Tory believes the province should consider forbidding retailers from purchasing lottery tickets, due to their disproportionate amouts of wins.
Also, claims that retailers are cheating consumers out of prizes brings Tory to suggest banning retailers from participating in the lottery game.
"Is it more important to let those 140,000 people buy their tickets and have some of the revenue from that than it is to maintain the integrity of the system?" Tory said. "I think the integrity always comes first."
I believe that they do have an advantage since they have access to more lotto tickets and can afford to buy out left over tickets. But their contribution to lotto sales also helps in the long run. Isn't the whole purpose of lottery to help fund the provincial government?
Banning retailers from purchasing tickets would only be a nuisance to the province. Since they are, according to claims, the largest purchasers of lottery tickets.
