Horror stories surfaced repeatedly over the years about excessive
drugging, veterans in soiled diapers, lousy food, neglect that turned
into festering infections and bed sores and, on occasion, premature
death as a result of poor care.
"More money is needed not only for better food but to pay feeders, a job
many families, often elderly spouses, are currently forced to do.
Too often, food sits "untouched" in front of elderly veterans and
seniors that need help which begins a vicious cycle begins that ends up
causing health problems, even premature death. .... "They're not going to get away with this," he said. "The whole veteran's
services committee and the whole Ontario command is pushing this one
now."
