article imageTaco Bell bans trans fats in food

By Iamseven     Nov 16, 2006 in
Taco Bell says it will no longer use cooking oils containing trans-fatty acids.
Trans fats have been linked to increases in cholesterol- which leads to an increased risk of heart disease. They are extremely prevalent in fast food.
Other fast foods places such as Wendy's and McDonald's are also planning on cutting out trans fats since many fast food chains have come under attack with increasing obesity rates in the US (and also in Europe).
The change meanes 15 items on their menu would not contain any trans-fats, but a few items (such as the Grilled Stuft Burrito) still will.
This is centered in America but may spread to the rest of the world.
It's about time. Trans fats are really dangerous & hopefully more places will follow after they see the effects of Taco Bell's switch.
