Researchers in Timbuktu are fighting to preserve tens of thousands of ancient texts which they say prove Africa had a written history at least as old as the European Renaissance.
This story is especially important to me as I've studied some African history. With all the poverty and negativity coming out of Africa, it is important to remember that Africa has a rich history that should be celebrated and acknowledged.
