Motion Picture Association of America contacted ChooseAndWatch.com (popular website) on Friday and gave them 72h deadline to shut down before they sue them. According to MPAA C&W is distributing copyright material without authors permission (channels such as Playboy TV). C&W does not agree with MPAA and refuses to shutdown. This will be interesting

The fact that the site is going to ignore the cease and desist order is what makes this interesting. The MPAA has deep pockets and can make their life difficult. I'll keep watching this one.

i got a big beef with the MPAA...they're bullying Web 2.0 sites, and trying to exert their muscle on some people just wanting to spread some culture to the masses. they should find something else to do...like encourage crappy directors to make better movies

    From the site

"72h deadline has passes – nothing happened – many things in this story (MPAA vs. C&W) don’t make sense. We start to believe that we were not really contacted by MPAA, but by some people that were pretending to be something they are not in order to try to shut down this website. Are they jealous, afraid of competition or just some geeks with too much time? So now we have to get even more visitors to this website to show them that they can’t stop us – we need your help – spread out the word!
Thank you for showing us your support."

I think theres enough weight to their suspicions. Pranks like this are dime a dozen these days because they all know how the **AAs can be schoolyard bullies when it comes to copyright and how easy it could be to emulate them.
