November 7th mid-term congressional elections will be a critical turning point for U.S. President George W. Bush. Will the American people severely limit Bush’s powers and end his controversial political career?
EXCERPTS OF RECENT CBS `60 MINUTES' BROADCAST:
“This is a month of extraordinary sacrifice in Iraq. About 100 Americans have been killed in action in October, more than in any month in two years. About 250 have been seriously wounded. Recently, 60 Minutes wondered how the military is caring for these casualties. What we found, in Iraq, were doctors, nurses and medics who are revolutionizing combat medicine with 21st century science and old fashioned guts.
Those old medical units made famous by "MASH" have been replaced by hospitals in the midst of the action. That's where 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley first met two wounded Americans, Marine Corporals Kenny Lyon and Brad Fulks. You wouldn't expect either to have survived what happened to them. Their families have agreed to let us tell you the story of how today's combat medicine gave both men a fighting chance.”
