Jackass: Number Two ended number one with $28.1 million. Even still, it was another down weekend--only one other film topped $10 million in ticket sales and the overall box office was down 7 percent from the same time last year, according to the trackers at Exhibitor Relations.
Well, the box office continues to drop. With a few extreme exceptions (which are usually sequels) movies have become giant advertisements for the DVD. I very much enjoy technology and am in awe of all that they can now do with my home sound system but the joy of seeing it in a big theatre, of hearing the audience laugh at all the right time. It seems like for all technology is doing, it is taking us further and further away from ever having to spend time outside of our own homes. Does advanced technology really have to mean I go to the movies, store and for gas and never speak to a single soul?
