Since 1962, James Bond has graced the silver screen in 23 action packed films. Movies about Agent 007, the British Secret Agent portray the Bond character as invincible.
Last year, the Daily Mail reported that in 22 Bond movies, the spy who is always surrounded by beautiful women, had been shot at 4,662 times.
Statistically speaking, the chance of Bond dodging that many bullets and surviving, was determined to be “1.4 x 10 to the power of minus 104.” You cannot get much closer to zero.
But bullets aren't Bond's only threat; the report said that with “130 other attempts on Bond’s life that did not involve being shot at, the chances of him surviving are even slimmer.”

Now, a new report published yesterday, Dec. 12, looks at Bond's life from a different perspective and speculates on the agent's life expectancy. The literature review was published in the British Medical Journal and based its conclusions on Bond's alcohol consumption described in the 14 James Bond novels.
According to the study, Her Majesty's Secret Service top agent's “weekly alcohol consumption was 92 units a week.” Death of the agent was predicted to occur by age 56.
The authors concluded that due to the high consumption level which is “ over four times the advisable maximum alcohol consumption for an adult male,” that Bond was at risk of “developing alcoholic liver disease, cirrhosis, impotence, and other alcohol related health problems. Additionally, his martini madness exposed him to “serious risk of injury or death.”
The researchers also noted that “The level of functioning as displayed in the books is inconsistent with the physical, mental, and indeed sexual functioning expected from someone drinking this much alcohol.”
But for anyone who really knows him – Agent 007 lives up to the title of the 20th Bond movie, Die Another Day, and with movie 24 in the works, James Bond lives on as that smooth guy surrounded by ladies, living on the edge and dodging bullets!
