article imageUncle to North Korean leader executed over corruption

By Sami Zaatari     Dec 12, 2013 in World
The uncle of North Korea's leader has been executed after being found guilty of corruption. Chang Song-thaek was publicly stripped of his duties this week during a party session.
The news of his execution was announced by the country's official state agency.
Corruption charges against Kim Jong-un's uncle included what the state termed as 'depraved' acts, such as womanising and the use of drugs. Chang was also accused of formerly abusing his power, and rejecting the state authority, seeking to form new parties against it.
Chang was formerly one of the main generals in the state's army, as well as being referred to as one of Kim Jong-un's 'key political advisor'.
