article imageNFL Scores: Chicago Bears top Dallas Cowboys 45-28

By Larry Seely     Dec 10, 2013 in Sports
Chicago - Monday nights match up between Dallas and Chicago had two teams playing for their NFL Playoffs lives, but the Bears made a statement as they crushed the Cowboys 45-28 behind the play of backup quarterback Josh McCown.
McCown combined for five touchdowns, including four through the air as the Bears pulled away from a 14-14 tie in the second quarter to gain the win and move into a first place tie in the NFC North with the Detroit Lions.
It was the third straight game the backup had over 300 yards passing and the veteran signal caller has just one interception since taking over for the injured Jay Cutler. Chicago gained 490 yards on the night, but also controlled the clock with over 13:00 more time of possession, improving to 7-6 on the year.
Dallas once again had trouble winning on the road and despite three touchdown passes on the night, quarterback Tony Romo completed just 11 of 20 passes for 104 yards. The loss drops the Cowboys to 7-6 and one game behind Philadelphia for the top spot in the NFC East.
The Cowboys return home next week to face Green Bay in a must win game for the team. Chicago plays the next two weeks on the road in games against the Browns and Eagles, but two losses on the year against the Lions make them must win games if the Bears want to win the division and advance to the NFL Playoffs.
