A college student in Texas was shot and killed by an campus police officer. The incident occurred during an altercation on Friday.
Robert Cameron Redus, 23, was a senior at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, according to Fox. Cpl. Christopher J. Carter, of the University of the Incarnate Word Police, pulled him over after he was reportedly driving erratically and speeding.
According to NY Daily, Alamo Heights police Lt. Cindy Pruitt said that during the traffic stop some kind of altercation took place, and the officer radioed for help, and then multiple shots were fired. Redus was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to ABC, a witness says that he heard about six shots fired. The witness said that he did not want to be identified.
As of now authorities are not sure why a struggle occurred or why the student was shot multiple times. Carter is now on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.
