Patchogue - Pop boy band Midnight Red took some time from their schedule to chat with me prior to their show in Patchogue, Long Island, at The Emporium, about their future plans.
The pop group consists of Eric Secharia, Anthony Ladao, Thomas Augusto, Colton Rudloff and Joey Diggs Jr.
"It's very exciting to be here," Thomas said referring to their radio show at Patchogue, New York, which they played for 106.1 BLI, Long Island's music station. "Tonight, expect a lot of high-energy dancing and a special surprise for the holidays. It's going to be typical Midnight Red. We want to get everybody up and dancing," Anthony added.
On December 3, the group released their music video for "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays," where they do justice on the 'N Sync tune. "It's easily one of our favorite Christmas songs. 'N Sync did the original so it's a big honor for us," Colton said. "It has been really cool. RedOne actually did this video with us. Thomas brought all his onesies for us."
Eric added, "It was great and a lot of fun. We got to go back into our childhood and wear our onesies and hang out like Christmas. This video really represents who Midnight Red is and our personalities."
On their latest single, "Take Me Home," Joey shared, "It's really special. It's our single and we are pushing it. It is doing really well on radio right now. Shooting the video was really fun."
Anthony noted that they want to keep on touring, in an effort to get their name out there. "We are really pushing this single, since we believe in it. We have some surprises coming," he said. "It's a big year for Midnight Red so we are really excited.
They shared that their record label, Capitol Records, which is home to Katy Perry, has welcomed them with open arms. "We are one of the first boy bands so they are really counting on us, and we are counting on them. It's going to be an awesome ride," the group concurred.
Midnight Red is motivated by their fans singing along to their songs. "That makes us feel so special. That is what drives Midnight Red: the fan reactions and their faces," Eric said.
The group concluded with their holiday wishes for their fans this season. "Happy holidays from Midnight Red," they said with excitement.
