article imageCats cats cats—100 cats filmed running around IKEA store at night

By Lesley Lanir     Dec 7, 2013 in Business
London - Without any real cat plan in mind, IKEA placed animal handling teams and five film crews in a London store overnight and set free 100 house cats and recorded their actions.
IKEA Group is the world’s leading home furnishing retailer with a total of 298 IKEA stores visited by nearly 700 million people every year. For an experiment, in the production of a new commercial, to "just try this and see what happens,” IKEA teams released 100 house cats overnight in its flag ship store in Wembley, London.
As one member of the team says on the behind the scenes video below, "It's a crazy idea but the whole point of the idea is interesting," and as animal handler Chris Brown remarks, "with that amount of cats it's unpredictable that's why we're doing it."
When considering the many videos seen all over the internet of cat antics you may expect cat mayhem. Watch and see for yourselves what "not special-trained film cats" find to do in IKEA besides choose household items and furniture from its range of 9,500 different home furnishing products.
IKEA have also produced a feline friendly Cat-alogue at Ikeacat-alogue and have an IKEA Cats facebook page.
