The BBC has released a number of images for this year's "Doctor Who" Christmas special, in which Matt Smith bows out as the Doctor after four years in the role.

A brief glimpse of Smith as the Doctor, together with his companion, Clara Oswald (as played by Jenna Coleman), has also been made available.
As detailed by Doctor Who News, the British television evening line-up on Christmas Day "shows that this year Doctor Who is up against its old adversary, Coronation Street, [which is] also on between 7.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m." on ITV 1.
BBC Two will be showing The Two Ronnies 1987 Christmas special, while over on Channel 4, Macaulay Culkin can be seen in the 1992 movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Channel 5, meanwhile, is showing a repeat of its compilation programme The Greatest Ever Christmas Movies.

According to DWN, another set of pictures for the 2013 Christmas special will be released this coming weekend, on Saturday, December 7.
The world TV premiere of Matt Smith's final outing as the Doctor will be broadcast in the UK on Christmas Day (Wednesday, December, 25) on BBC One, at 7.30 p.m. , GMT.

In Australia, ABC1 will broadcast it one day later, on Boxing Day (Thursday, December, 26) at 7.30 p.m.
In Canada, The Time of the Doctor will be broadcast on SPACE, on Christmas Day, at 8.00 p.m., EST.
The 60-minute special will also mark the eagerly anticipated debut of Peter Capaldi in the title role.
The Time of the Doctor will be the tenth full-length Doctor Who adventure of the 2013 set of episodes. The previous one — the 50th-anniversary feature, The Day of the Doctor, which starred four of the actors (Matt Smith, David Tennant, John Hurt and Tom Baker) to have played the Doctor since it began in 1963 — has achieved the status in the UK of being the most-watched TV drama of 2013.
