article imageRob Ford to star weekly on Washington 'Sports Junkie' radio show

With his real power stripped from him by Toronto council, Mayor Rob Ford has more idle time. Ford, embattled due to a raft of drug allegations, is a big football junkie and is now putting his knowledge to work by joining a sports radio show.
Washington D.C. radio show 'Sports Junkies' on 106.7 The Fan announced Wednesday morning that Ford would be appearing weekly on the show to talk about NFL football and give his weekly picks.
Ford has a football pedigree and when young played the game. He coached the football team at Etobicoke’s Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School until let go last Spring because of comments he made about the school to media. Last week he was at the Buffalo Bills NFL game in Toronto and often attends Toronto Argonauts CFL games.
He should provide candid sound bites and gave a hint of just that when reporters asked him Wednesday about the controversy that surrounds the name of the Washington Redskins and whether they should change it.
“That’s ridiculous," Ford said. "What are we going to call the Cleveland Indians? The Cleveland Aboriginals next? Where do we start? The ‘Skins are the ‘Skins and I stick with the Washington Redskins.”
He'll appear on his first 'Sports Junkies' at about 8:40 a.m. EST Thursday morning, Dec. 5.
