article imageJacoby Ellsbury to sign $153 million contract with the NY Yankees

By Owen Weldon     Dec 4, 2013 in Sports
In 2005 Johny Damon left the Boston Red Sox and went to the New York Yankees. Now Jacoby Ellsbury is doing the same thing, as he agreed to a seven-year contract with the Yankees.
Ellsbury's deal with the Yankees is worth $153 million, according to Boston.
According to LA Times, Ellsbury is now due to take a physical in New York on Wednesday. Ellsbury is now the second major free agent that the Yankees have signed, as the team finalized a contract with catcher Brian McCann.
According to Boston Globe, The Boston Red Sox admitted that they were not anywhere close to the offer that the Yankees made to Ellsbury. The team said that they were never comfortable crossing the $100 million, for five years, mark. However, the details of the final offer made by the Red Sox remains unknown.
Even though Ellsbury was a very well-liked Red Sox player, the chances are he will be booed every single time he steps into Fenway Park, in Boston, in a Yankee jersey.
