article imageReview: Kellie Pickler is back with beautiful album 'The Woman I Am' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Nov 30, 2013 in Entertainment
Country singer Kellie Pickler released her new album "The Woman I Am" via her label, Black River Entertainment, on November 11.
It opens with the uptempo traditional country-sounding tune "Little Bit Gypsy" and it is followed by the sassy "Ring for Sale."
"Buzzin'" is more upbeat, while "The Woman I Am," which she co-wrote with her husband, Kyle Jacobs, is an autobiographical and intimate ballad about Pickler, which she sings beautifully.
Her vocals on "Closer to Nowhere" are angelic and in "Selma Drye" she pays homage to her grandmother. "I Forgive You" is a poignant and heartfelt ballad.
While I wasn't crazy for "Bonnie and Clyde," I really enjoyed the follow-up tune "Where Did Your Love Go," where the listener can easily recall Pam Tillis.
"No Cure For Crazy" is another sassy track and a great deal of fun.
Equally impressive is the Leslie Satcher-penned ballad "Tough All Over" and it closes with her album's lead single "Someone Somewhere Tonight." This song's music video featured her dancing partner, Derek Hough from Dancing With The Stars.
The Verdict
Overall, Kellie Pickler does a solid job on her latest studio album. She allows her listeners to get to know her on a more intimate level than some of her previous musical work, and she connects well with her audience. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars, and it will please fans of traditional country music.
