York is a beautiful, historic city. It was founded by the Romans in 71 AD. Some portions of the ancient city walls date back to the Romans, while the rest is of Norman origin. York Minster, castle and Clifford's Tower are other famed features.
The city of York is located in North Yorkshire and the images shown with this article were taken in November 2013. The day started out quite rainy, as can be seen from the picture of York Minster below, but as the morning wore on the weather improved.

Clifford's Tower (image below) is a surviving part of York Castle, set high on a mound and has a museum offering tours of the debtors' prison. Clifford's Tower marks the spot where the entire population of York's Jews was massacred in the year 1190.
