article imageInterview with Dyro: World renowned dance producer and DJ Special

By Markos Papadatos     Nov 29, 2013 in Entertainment
DJ Dyro made his debut this year at No. 30 on the DJ Magazine Top 100 poll, thus marking his first entry on the poll, which ranks the world's greatest DJs.
On being recognized by DJ Magazine, he remarked, "It was an amazing feeling to be recognized in that way by the fans and I am truly grateful for their votes. I don't put too much emphasis on it and know that I still have to put in a lot of hard work and deliver on music I release to prove I am worthy of this placing."
He noted that electronic dance music (EDM), in its current state, is the strongest that it has been for a long time. "There is so much media attention and fan interest. It's just crazy at the moment. This is also really cool as it means we have so much scope for creativity, working with one another on collaborations and at parties where the production keeps stepping up. It's incredible," Dyro said.
Regarding his future plans, Dyro shared, "I have so much I want to accomplish this year. I really don’t know how I am going to fit it all in. In the immediate future, I am releasing a new track with Radboud singing the vocals, the track is called 'You Gotta Know.' It's a bit different from my usual style, a bit more radio friendly which is cool. Then leading up to the New Year I have some shows in Europe and a few big ones in the U.S. as well."
Dyro will be performing at Pier 94 on December 28 in New York City. "I love New York, it is a cool city. I get to spend quite a lot of time there as it's where my girlfriend lives. I am really excited about the show, I have heard a lot about Pier 94, a lot of people have said that it’s the best club in New York. I haven’t been to enough to make up my mind but I am excited. I have a host of new edits and a few new tracks to debut so it’s one not to be missed," he said.
At the Pier 94 show, he will be sharing the stage with fellow DJ Dannic, which he noted is a "great" feeling. "Dannic is one of my closest friends. Over the past twelve months we spent a lot of time on the road together and get along really well. Early in my career my mixing skills were not as good as they could be, my background is as a producer and DJing is something I have only recently picked up. Dannic was a great help during this period. He always had solid advice as to how to improve my technique. So yeah, I can’t wait for this one. We often encourage each other to push ourselves so the energy during this show will be at a different level," he explained.
On what motivates him from day to day, Dyro stated, "I am a very self-motivated guy, so most days, I just want to improve myself and that is what drives me. As will most things some days are more productive than others and after several weeks on the road it can be hard to get me out of bed. But once I am refreshed and recharged, I tend to be back in the studio refining my technique."
He listed Amba Shepherd and Bright Lights as his two female collaboration choices within dance music. "I think Amba Shepherd is one of the most talented female vocalists there is. 'Apollo,' the track she made with Hardwell, is up there as one of my favorites of all time. I would also like to work with Bright Lights again. Working with her and Hardwell on 'Never Say Goodbye' was a great experience and I learned so much from it. I feel it is one of the best releases I have been a part of and would love to revisit the studio with them again."
Dyro is an avid social media user and he is obsessively on Twitter and on Facebook. "I travel so much to play shows, and I need social media to stay in tune with what's going on, otherwise I may lose touch with reality somewhat. I also try to do as many meet and greets as possible, I would not be here without the fans continued support and it is important to let them know that," he said.
DJ Dyro thanked his fans for their dedication. "I really appreciate the support, without you guys there wouldn’t be a Dyro and that fact is not lost on me. So please come down to a show and we can party together," he concluded.
