article imageDuke of Cambridge joins John Bon Jovi, for one night only

London - Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, is famous for breaking with stuffy royal tradition. It is hard to imagine his father Prince Charles singing on stage with Bon Jovi but for William it was no problem.
The Winter White Gala event was held Tuesday night at Kensington Palace, London in support of UK homeless charity Centrepoint. Homelessness in the UK continues to rise and people in this dire situation suffer greatly especially at this time of year.
The Duke met Taylor Swift and John Bon Jovi at a drinks reception before the charity event kicked off and later joined them on stage wowing the 600 guests attending the event.
The charity event included Benedict Cumberbatch, James Blunt and Tinie Tempah. However, once the Duke, Swift and Bon Jovi took to the stage for an allegedly impromptu performance the trio became the night's sensation.
The Duke, resplendent in black dinner suit, with bow-tie of course, jumped on the stage to accompany Swift and Bon Jovi as they performed an acoustic version of the singer's hit Livin' On A Prayer. William insisted Swift was part of the act before hitting the stage.
The event was held in a temporary marquee erected in the grounds of Kensington Palace. Jonathon Ross played host to the 600 guests attending the charity gala.
Taylor Swift told the media that she was excited about performing on royal ground, a first for her and others. Performing with a future King of England may have quickly outstripped that achievement though.
Amongst the celebrity guests were children who had used the Centrepoint charity previously. The Duke of Cambridge has been a patron of the Centrepoint charity since September 2005. The charity works with hundreds of young people helping them tackle issues which can lead to homelessness.
John Bon Jovi though is no stranger to charitable work.
Bon Jovi's Soul Foundation was founded in the US in 2006 and aims to break the cycle of people falling into poverty and homelessness by helping them gain access to food and affordable housing along with job training programmes.
The Duke delivered a speech Tuesday night and presented the Centrepoint Great Britain Youth Inspiration Award to Bon Jovi for his humanitarian work.
Earlier Tuesday the Duke accompanied his father Prince Charles on a visit to London Zoo to see the new tiger enclosure, launching a new project to try to halt the illegal trade in endangered animal products. Both the Duke and his father are passionate about conservation.
The Winter Whites Gala held in Kensington Palace though was perfect for the Duke of Cambridge who obviously shares his mother Diana's love of popular music.
