Westminster - If you thought Greek music began with Nana Mouskouri and ended with George Michael, there is another, more sophisticated side to it.
If you haven't heard of the composer Christodoulos Georgiades, that is partly his fault. Something of a child prodigy, he moved from Cyprus to Vienna and spent many years studying the piano repertoire. It was only in 1989 that he returned to composing, and is said to date to have written over 75 works.
On November 30, there will be a special 70th birthday celebration at St John Smith's Square, a major hub for classical music in London. The event is organised by Lisa Peacock Concert Management Limited, and will include appearances by Patricia Rozario and Yuri Bashmet among others.
Very little of his music can be found on YouTube, and his on-line discography is positively threadbare, but all that could change at this albeit late hour.
