article imageAmerican Music Awards go on for some reason

By Tim O'Brien     Nov 25, 2013 in Entertainment
Los Angeles - For many, when it comes to the American Music Awards, it is a big night for music. For many others, it begs the question, why?
As in, why are these still on? Sure, that can be said for many award shows, but some just seem to have stayed too long. Like The American Music Awards, where artists win more prizes and the rules seems vague. These fan-voted style shows need to be trimmed, or better yet, omitted.
Same can be said for the upcoming American Country Awards. While they are at it, kill The People's Choice Awards, too.
It was a night that was filled with performances. Plus, if anyone thinks that it was a meltdown that Cyrus had earlier, now hopefully understand that it was all about marketing and public relations - and it worked. As for the Icon Award, huh? And in that vagueness of rules, One Direction, is not an American group, right? Oh, yes, these awards mean popular music in America, which means absolutely nothing.
Here are the list of winners from Sunday night's show presented live from the NOKIA Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Perhaps they go on is because people still watch, to the tune of 12.9 million viewers last night (Nov. 24). That is an increase over the last year's show.
