article imageCharles Manson rumored to be getting married in prison

By Scott Tuttle     Nov 22, 2013 in Odd News
After more than 40 years in prison, convicted serial killer Charles Manson is rumored to be getting married to a 25-year-old who has been visiting him regularly in prison for the past six years.
But is there any truth to the rumor? Not according to Manson.
"That's a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That's trash. We're just playing that for public consumption."
His supposed girlfriend, who currently goes by the name Star, claims otherwise.
"I'll tell you straight up, Charlie and I are going to get married. ...When that will be, we don't know. But I take it very seriously. Charlie is my husband. Charlie told me to tell you this."
Raised near St. Louis, Missouri, Star moved to Corcoran, California in 2007 in order to be close to Manson. She became a fan when she was a teenager and a friend gave her a collection of Manson's essays on the environment. Shortly after, she began writing to him, and a correspondence between the two soon developed.
According to Rolling Stone, Star got a job at a retirement home and managed to save up $2,000 which she used to fund her move to California when she was 19. Since that time, she has visited 79-year-old Manson regularly every weekend for sometimes as long as five hours a day. She also manages a website called "Release Charles Manson Now."
To prove her devotion to the aging cult leader, she has cut an "X" into her forehead in a way similar to that of the Manson family members who assisted in the crimes Manson was convicted of over four decades ago. "Star" was a name given to her by Manson.
Manson himself has been married twice. The first time was to Rosalie Willis from 1954 to 1957. Then in 1958, he married again to a prostitute named Leona "Candy" Stevens, but they soon divorced when Manson was sent back to prison for violating his parole terms for a previous charge of forging a U.S. Treasury check.
Charles Manson was convicted in January, 1971 of 27 counts of murder of which his victims included actress Sharon Tate. Though originally sentenced to death, Manson's sentence was reduced in 1972 to life in prison with the possibility of parole due to California's abolishing of the death penalty.
He has subsequently been denied parole 12 times, and did not even bother attending his most recent hearing in April, 2012. He will not be eligible again for parole until 2027. He will be 92 years old.
