article imageNFL Scores: Cam Newton leads Panthers over Patriots 24-20

By Larry Seely     Nov 19, 2013 in Sports
Charlotte - The Carolina Panthers are making believers out of the rest of the NFL as they won their sixth straight game on Monday, defeating the New England Patriots 24-20, behind the play of quarterback Cam Newton and one of the best defenses in the league.
Newton was spectacular before a national TV audience, completing 19 of 28 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns, including the game winning 25 yard strike to wide receiver Ted Ginnn Jr. with just :59 left in the game.
The youngster showed great poise in the pocket, but used his mobility when needed, leading the Panthers with 62 yards rushing on seven carries, but the game ended with some controversy as Tom Brady led the Patriots to the Carolina 18 yard line and on the final play of the game, threw an interception in the end zone, but a penalty flag was thrown, possibly giving New England one last play, but the officials picked up the flag without an explanation and the game was over.
Brady finished the night 29 of 40 for 296 yards and one touchdown and leading the Pats from behind on three different occasions, he and the team came up just short and fell to 7-3 on the year, the same record Carolina now has despite losing three of their first four games this season.
