This news was reported this afternoon including by the BBC
. The bodies of property developer Kevin Lee and two other men were found earlier this year. All three had been stabbed
. On May 7 it was announced that Joanna Dennehy then 30 years old, had been charged with all three murders. Police made a number of other arrests. The crimes happened in the Peterborough area but the trial has been moved to the Central Criminal Court, possibly to avoid local prejudice.
This appears to be her second appearance
here, this time for a pleas and directions hearing. Her two co-defendants appeared by video-link.
Whether or not this is serial murder, spree killing or mass murder, Dennehy's surprise plea is likely to cause as many problems for the prosecution as it is for the defence because she is not the only person charged in connection with these crimes. Her three male co-defendants have all pleaded not guilty, so it may be that in order to afford them each a fair trial, the proceedings will need to be delayed and some degree of anonymity afforded to them. There are also likely to be points of law raised about the admissibility of any of Dennehy's evidence, if she is called to testify against them.
