Johnny Depp impersonator marries tree to benefit environment

By Kevin Fitzgerald     Nov 12, 2013 in Odd News
Buenos Aires - In an effort to raise environmental awareness, a Peruvian man staged a commitment ceremony to a tree in Argentina. The activist dressed like Johnny Depp in order to gain more attention from the media.
According to Unexplained Mysteries, the man behind the stunt, Richard Torres, is an actor who is known for his appearances on stage and in film.
Hypervocal reports that Torres dressed in a white suit and top hat and placed symbolic offerings at the bottom of the tree before saying his vows and switching rings. He also managed to give the tree a kiss and a lick as a way of solidifying his commitment. An officiant was also present to preside over the ceremony.
According to the Huffington Post, this is not the first publicity stunt performed by Torres as a way to raise environmental awareness. Back in June while in his native Peru, Torres married his first tree.
In an attempt to prevent some trees from being removed from a park in Peru, he also staged a nude protest in 2012 and was arrested for his actions
