article imageNFL: Manning leads Broncos to 28-20 victory over Chargers

By Larry Seely     Nov 10, 2013 in Sports
San Diego - The Denver Broncos defense is finally playing like they did last season and Peyton manning had another big football game as the Broncos defeated San Diego 28-20 at Qualcomm Stadium on Sunday.
Manning completed 25 of 36 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns as the Broncos opened up a 28-6 lead and then turned it over to the defense to hold on for the win. Demaryius Thomas was the leading receiver, making seven receptions for over 100 yards and three touchdowns.
Running back Knowshon Moreno had a good game, rushing for 65 yards on 15 carries and adding another 49 yards on eight catches as the Broncos gained 397 yards of offense against a good Chargers defense.
San Diego quarterback Phillip Rivers is having one of the best years of his career, but despite another solid performance with 218 yards passing and a score, San Diego didn't capitalize when given the chance and made a couple costly penalties on long gains to hurt their chances of upsetting Denver.
The Broncos are now 8-1 on the year, but trail Kansas City who has yet to lose this season, but the two teams will battle twice in the next three weeks and the outcome of those football games will decide who wins the AFC West.
