article imageNFL Scores: Lions top Bears, take over top spot in NFC North

By Larry Seely     Nov 10, 2013 in Sports
Chicago - Calvin Johnson has stepped up over the last two weeks and his resurgence has taken the Detroit Lions to first place in the NFC North. Johnson had two more touchdowns on Sunday, both in the second half, leading Detroit to a 21-19 victory over Chicago.
Johnson finished the football game with six receptions for 83 yards and running back Reggie Bush added 105 yards on the ground as the Lions improved to 6-3 with the win on the road.
Quarterback Mathew Stafford completed 18 of 35 throws for 219 yards and three touchdowns, ruining the return of Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears.
Cutler completed 21 of 40 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown, his first action since being injured early in week 7 against Washington. The Bears struggled to run the ball this week with just 38 yards on the ground. Matt Forte entered the contest averaging close to five yards per carry, but Detroit limited the Chicago running back to just 33 yards on 17 carries.
With the struggles of Green Bay the past two weeks, Detroit has taken advantage of the situation and taken a one game lead over Chicago and the Packers, but the NFL season still has a few weeks left in the season and the Lions will need to continue their good play or risk letting the other teams in the division back into the race for the top spot.
