Kelly Clarkson introduced the five nominees: Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Eric Church, Luke Bryan and
Blake Shelton. She presented the trophy to Shelton, thus marking his fourth career win in this prestigious category.
In his acceptance speech, Shelton remarked, "Oh my gosh. Man. Not to completely echo the words of Miranda, but I really did not think it was going to happen this year, but it did, so let me thank some people. First, let me thank my record label first, Warner Brothers, since they have worked their butts off. We have been at the bottom before, and somehow dug our way out and I am up here talking about this. Thank you Warner Brothers. Thank you country radio. A special thank you to Tree Paine. She is my publicist and she is constantly cleaning up after me."
He went on to thank his "wife" (Miranda Lambert), as well as his "fans," "country radio" and "everybody."
His newest radio single, the ballad "
Mine Would Be You" also topped the
Billboards Hot Country Airplay charts, for the week of November 16. It has charted on those charts for 16 weeks.
