article imageNHL News and Rumors: Nail Yakupov to NY Rangers?

By Larry Seely     Nov 7, 2013 in Sports
New York - Just six weeks into the 2013 NHL season and already two trades have been made and speculation around the league has a few more deals in the works for the coming weeks.
The latest rumors involve two squads that have struggled out of the game and looking to make some changes as they try to turn things around.
Edmonton has struggled on the defensive end of the ice, but last year's top pick Nail Yakupov has also been a problem. The youngster hasn't played much this season and reports had the Russian looking to return home, but the Oilers are thinking they may trade the 20 year-old for a player that can help now or a couple of draft picks to assist the team down the line.
The NY Rangers have also struggled to score goals, but New York is just four points out of the Eastern Conference Playoff chase and looking to add some fire power to their lineup.
The NY Post reported that Edmonton sent some front office staff to a recent Rangers contest, leading to rumors of a possible trade between the two NHL franchises. While this wouldn't be the biggest trade of the season, it is one that could help New York reach the playoffs and give Edmonton a defensive player that could help the struggling team.
