article imageMLB News and Rumors: David Price to Philadelphia Phillies?

By Larry Seely     Nov 6, 2013 in Sports
Philadelphia - The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to rebound from a disastrous 2013 MLB season and one player the team seems to have an eye on is David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Price himself has reported that he feels a trade will happen before the start of the 2014 season and the team has done nothing to dispute the trade talks.
The Rays have a history of moving star players before their contract runs out, thus acquiring younger and cheaper talent, a move that has had success for the franchise. Price is scheduled to get a big pay raise after next season and that has started the rumors of a possible move.
Philadelphia will be looking to get some younger talent in their starting pitching rotation and a move for an All-Star that can carry a team is a move in the right direction. The Phillies would need to get creative to make such a bold trade, but the team has been successful in the past acquiring pitching help and its the best option for this franchise to rebound from this past season.
Price has 71 career wins in his five full years in the MLB and has an overpowering fast ball that helps a rotation come playoff time. While it might seem a reach that these two teams could reach a deal, Philadelphia is looking to make some big changes for next season and this move would put them at the top of the National League in terms of pitching talent and it would create a buzz among fans of the team.
