article imageXbox One next-generation console, what the users can expect

By Can Tran     Nov 6, 2013 in Entertainment
With the Microsoft Xbox One next-generation console hitting markets on November 22, there are a couple of things to expect for those that plan on purchasing a console.
This next-generation console will come out seven days after the November 15 launch of Sony's Playstation 4 console. Xbox One one has received a lot of backlash for doing a lot of things deemed unpopular. Microsoft, responding to the criticism, made an about-face on many of its policies such as the issue of digital rights media (DRM). If you choose to get an Xbox One next-generation console, there are several things you can expect.
The first thing you can expect is being able to use quick response (QR) to redeem Microsoft points. Larry Hryb, who goes by “Major Nelson” on Xbox Live, gives a quick demonstration of using QR to quickly redeem MS points. All you have to do is hold out the QR code and scan it via the Xbox One Kinect peripheral. Thus, you have redeemed your MS points. The Xbox One Kinect acts as the scanner; the Kinect peripheral may be suitable for the long run. You can scan it with the Kinect instead of having to go online and type in the redemption codes. That saves plenty of time on your part.
The second thing to expect, if you're a long-time Xbox Live user with a very high Gamerscore, will be a free copy of the Xbox One exclusive reboot of Killer Instinct. It will be a full copy of the game which means you will have the entire roster at your disposal. You will know if you are a chosen user if you receive an email from Microsoft.
If you're not chosen, you can still download the game for free with one unlocked character with each additional character being on sale for $5 a piece. Joystiq reports that a smaller group of select users could get a free Xbox One console. Another Joystiq article reports that Microsoft factors in both the users' Gamescore and how long they have been on Xbox Live for.
The third thing to expect, for those that get Xbox Live Gold, is the Xbox Music app for free. You will be able to utilize the streaming music service for free. However, you will periodically get ads. Gamespot reports that this is different from the Xbox 360 version of the service which requires users to have both Xbox Live Gold and the Xbox Music Pass, for a total of $170 a year, for access to Xbox Music.
In terms of online cloud computing and gaming, the dynamic will play an important role for the Xbox One consoles. While online gaming is still a major focus for the Xbox One, Microsoft says that singer-player gaming still remains very crucial.
With booting up the actual console, Microsoft anticipates that the Xbox One will boot up faster from standby mode. In that respect, Microsoft encourages users to put the Xbox One on standby mode rather than off mode when not using the console.
How will the Xbox One console fare? One will have to wait until November 22 when the next-generation console launches.
