USA Today has praised Himmelman as "one of rock's most wildly imaginative performers" for his often times highly improvisational stage shows.
As of today, it was announced in a press statement that the musician has earned almost $30,000 in donations. In an effort to band the current funds that he has already already received, he needs to reach $36,000 worth of donations by November 20.
He worked on this new project with highly respected session players including drummer Jim Keltner (famed for work with Bob Dylan, George Harrison and John Lennon), as well as Lee Sklar (world-renowned bassist) and guitarist David Steele. The album is being produced by Sheldon Gomberg, who has worked with Five For Fighting and Mandy Moore, among others.
