Oslo - In western Norway, a man has hijacked a bus and stabbed to death its driver and two passengers, according to early reports. The suspect is hospitalized with stab wounds.
The suspect was described as being in his 50s and with an accent of foreign origin. Police apprehended the suspect shortly afterwards, according to Norway's TV2 news channel.
Included among the victims is the bus driver. At press time there were no reports on how many passengers were injured. Firefighters responding to a call regarding a traffic incident were able to overpower the knife wielding suspect.
The assault took place around 5:30 p.m. local time on an isolated road that winds through mountains near Ardel, about 220 km (136 miles) northwest of Oslo.
"For now, I have no information to indicate there was anyone else than the three victims" on the bus, police officer Joern Lasse Foerde Refsnes told TV2.
Authorities have not determined a motive for the attack and the suspect is in hospital being treated for knife wounds, according to early reports.
