By Timothy Whitt     Nov 1, 2013 in Entertainment
The Walking Dead, shuffled into its fourth season recently and fans of the show could not wait. Over the first three seasons the show has been a ratings juggernaut for AMC. The fourth season opener proved to be an even better ratings winner.
Averaging 16.1 million viewers during its inaugural 9 p.m. broadcast, the series was up more than 5 million from last October's 10.9 million opener.
The Walking Dead continues to grow in popularity and has an ever growing fan base. Among adults 18-49, The Walking Dead averaged 10.4 million viewers. That's an 8.3 rating in the key demo, making it bigger than any broadcast series this fall In the ratings war the season four opener even beat Sunday Night Football and other Sunday shows.
The fourth season of the Walking Dead continues where the third season left off. Rick, the former sheriff and de facto leader of group and the rest of the bunch are still holed up inside the prison. The refugees from the Governor's town from the end of season three have become productive members of the community.
Outside the fence the zombies gather, not as many as usual, waiting to satiate their appetite for the living while inside the prison walls the zombies are not the only thing to worry about. People are dying from a mysterious flu like virus. A cure needs to be found before more people die. Who will survive and who will die? Only the writers know for sure and as true fans of the show already know there is no character, fan favorite or not, who is safe.
The Walking Dead, season four promises to once again transcend the premise of being just a zombie show based on a series of graphic novels. The Walking Dead is a true dramatic series with enough plots and subplots and great acting to satisfy every fan and create a lot of water cooler talk on Mondays mornings.
Not a fan of the Walking Dead it is never to late to start watching the show. The first three seasons are available on DVD or Blue Ray and the fourth season is can be viewed on the internet. The Walking Dead has also been renewed for a Fifth season. One word of warning though the show is not for the tame or squeamish because there is a lot of blood and gore as the zombies kill and are dispatched.
