Oslo - Hollywood Emmy-winning actress Claire Danes, recently famous for her part in the TV series "Homeland", will be hosting the 20th Nobel Peace Prize awards this coming December.
Last year it was Sarah Jessica Parker and Gerard Butler who had the honor.
On December 11th, the wild-eyed "Homeland" star will be compering the main ceremony in Oslo, Norway, including awarding the Nobel Peace prize prize to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) who won it earlier this month.
Geir Lundestad, Secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, said:
“Nobel Peace Prize Research and Information is extremely happy that Claire Danes has agreed to host the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize Concert honoring the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).”
Not only famous for "Homeland", Danes has appeared in movies like “Romeo and Juliet,” “The Hours,” and “Shopgirl,” and has been awarded three Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards for her work.
OPCW, the chemical watchdog, arrived in Syria and began overseeing the dismantling of President Bashar Assad's chemical weapons arsenal just days before the announcement was made.
The awards have been hosted by a line of famous personalities including Julianne Moore, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Helen Mirren, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Other artists that will be appearing at this year's event have yet to be announced.
