Boston - David Ortiz and the rest of the Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 in Game 6 on Wednesday to win the World Series.
According to ABC, Shane Victorino started off the Sox with a three-run double off the wall against Michael Wacha. The momentum continued throughout the rest of the game.
According to USA Today, Red Sox pitcher John Lackey, who reviled in the city of Boston for the struggles he has had to deal with in the past, received a standing ovation after handing over a 6-1 lead to the bullpen in the seventh inning.
According to Boston Globe, the Sox's most valuable player David Ortiz was walked, intentionally, four times.
This is the first World Series won in Boston since 1918. The Red Sox has also become the first team since 1991 to go from the very last place in their division to winning the World Series in just a span of a year.
