article imageNBA Scores: Miami Heat cool down Chicago 107-95

By Larry Seely     Oct 30, 2013 in Sports
Miami - Derrick Rose made his long anticipated return to the NBA on Tuesday night, but LeBron James and the Miami Heat showed the basketball world they are still the best team with a convincing 107-95 victory.
James was the leading scorer for the Heat with 17 points and added a game high eight assists as they broke open the came with 37 points in the second quarter to open a 21 point halftime lead.
Miami had balanced scoring throughout the night as seven of the nine players that hit the court had double figures in points. The defense wasn't bad either as the team recorded ten steals and seven block shots in their opening game.
Rose was expected to help lead the Bulls and challenge Miami for the top record in basketball, but the youngster was rusty as he scored just 12 points on 4 of 15 from the floor and with five turnovers and just four assists, his poor performance was just too much for the rest of the team to overcome.
Carlos Boozer was a bright spot for Chicago as the veteran forward had a game high 31 points, but the play of Rose and the bench that made just 9 of 26 shots, will have the players and coaches working harder over the next few weeks to improve on their bad opening night showing.
