It opens with the dynamic single "Never Alone," where she showcases her breathy vocals and she changes the pace with the upbeat tune "Now That I Get To Drive."
The sultry, "One and Only," is a song for which she is the sole writer.
My personal favorite cut on the EP is "A Simple Kind of Beautiful," which is an elegant vocal.
It closes with the soothing and exceptional track, "Why," which she also penned by herself.
As indicated in the
biography section of her official website, Kuegle listed fellow esteemed Canadian vocalist K.D. Lang as a musical influence and you can certainly hear that in her voice.
The Verdict
All five songs on Chantal Kuegle's eponymous EP are polished and solid. She possesses a crystalline and classically-trained voice that should take her far in the country music scene. This EP is the quintessential introduction to her craft. It is worth more than just a passing glance.
