South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation and the City of Tshwane (Greater Pretoria) have held a Diplomatic Fair celebrating 50 Years of the Organisation of African Unity, now re-christened the African Union.
The fair, held on the lawn of the Union Buildings at the weekend, showcased dozens of diplomatic missions and embassies, all of which are represented in the city of Pretoria. These embassies and high commissions laid out their nations’ cultures, histories, traditions and cuisines.
The musical accompaniment was overpowering, to say the least, but some certainly enjoyed it and danced and gyrated to the various genres, diplomats voiced unhappiness that they could hardly be heard.
