Washington - R&B singer Chris Brown, who remains on probation for beating, biting, and threatening to kill Grammy Award-winning singer Rihanna in 2009, is expected in court Monday after he was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting a man outside a hotel.
Brown was charged with felony assault at 4:25 a.m. local time after the altercation outside the W Hotel, a few hundred yards from the White House, Officer Anthony Clay of the Metropolitan Police Department said, Reuters reported.
Christopher Hollosy, a 35-year-old man who is reported to be Brown’s bodyguard, was also arrested in the incident and faces the same charge, police said.
The police incident report obtained by CNN identified the alleged victim as Isaac Adams Parker, 20, of Beltsville, Maryland.
Parker told police that he tried to jump into a photo that Brown was posing for with a female fan on the sidewalk when the singer said, "I'm not down with that gay s--t" and "I feel like boxing," the police report said. Parker said that Brown then punched him in the face with his closed fist, the report said.
Parker said Brown's bodyguard -- who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 240 pounds -- stepped between them and punched Parker in the face, the report said. The bodyguard then grabbed Brown by his arm and pulled him toward his tour bus, which was parked near by, it said, according to CNN.
Brown was in Washington to perform Saturday night at an event billed as a "Homecoming Weekend" party at the Park at Fourteen club, just a few blocks from where the fight took place. Howard University was celebrating its homecoming, though a university spokeswoman said the party was not sponsored by or affiliated with the school, The Associated Press reported.
Both Brown and Hollosy will be in custody until at least Monday morning when the court re-opens for business and they can appear before a judge to request bail, according to MTV.
Brown is still on probation in connection with his 2009 guilty plea to felony domestic violence assault against then-girlfriend Rihanna, and has had a number of run-ins with the law since then.
He's due back in court Nov. 20 in Los Angeles to update a judge on his probation. If a judge finds Brown in violation of his probation he could be sent to jail for up to four years.
