article imageMetallica books gig in Antarctica

By John Simon Ritchie     Oct 25, 2013 in Entertainment
The heavy metal legends of Metallica have announced what could arguably be their most badass concert to date — a live gig in Antarctica.
"After over 30 years as a band, we have been unbelievably fortunate to visit just about every corner of the earth ... except for one," Metallica said Thursday via their website. "That is all about to change as we are set travel to Antarctica..."
The gig, set to take place on December 8th, is going to be just one of two shows ever played on the icy continent. (The first was in 2007 from indie rock band Nunatak.) However, Metallica plans to make this show even more unique by not using any amplifiers. Rather, "...the show will be transmitted to the audience via headphones with no amplification ... a real first for us!"
Sadly, tickets are not available to the general public and those hoping to go must take part in a Coca-Cola Zero contest that will be launched only in Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica and Mexico later this month.
This concert will be so metal...
