A student and a teacher have been killed, with another two in critical condition, after a shooting took place at a Nevada middle school.
According to the police, the shooting took place on the school's campus, but outside the school's building.
A Sparks police dispatcher says the call came in at 7:16 a.m. Monday.
A 13-year-old student told the Reno Gazette Journal that a student fired a shot at a teacher at a Nevada middle school on Monday. "The student was pointing a gun at the teacher after the teacher told him to put it down, and the student fired a shot at the teacher, and the teacher fell, and everybody ran away," the student said, according to CNN.
The shooter has been taken down according to the police, with the gunman's identity yet to be revealed.
The middle school as well as a neighbouring kindergarden school were both evacuated with students being sent to a nearby high school.
Two students were injured, CNN notes. One underwent surgery, and the other is "doing well," he said.
Gov. Brian Sandoval has released a statement on the shooting:
I was deeply saddened to learn of the horrific shooting at Sparks Middle School this morning. My administration is receiving regular updates and the Nevada Highway Patrol is assisting at the scene
