article imageNBA Preseason: Raptors hold off Celtics, win 99-97

By Larry Seely     Oct 17, 2013 in Sports
Toronto - Toronto has made some big changes to their roster over the last twelve and it seems to be paying off over the NBA preseason as the Raptors won again on Wednesday night, 99-97 over the Boston Celtics.
One area of concern this preseason has been turnovers and Toronto had another 21 in this basketball game, but the team was able to overcome those mistakes. Terrance Ross came off the bench and led the Raptors in scoring with 19 points as Toronto held off a late rally to secure their fourth win in five games.
Rudy Gay and Kyle Lowry had a good start to the contest, both scoring 10 points, despite playing just ten minutes of action. With five players total scoring in double figures, this squad may become a household name if they keep playing together as a team when the regular season begins.
Boston has struggled with scoring, not that its been a surprise with Rajon Rondo still nursing his knee injury and the trade of two key veterans over the summer, but the Celtics still had six players score in double figures, led by shooting guard MarShon Brooks who poured in 17 points while playing just twenty minutes.
Both of these NBA squads are in rebuilding, but the raptors seem farther ahead in the process and could be a dark horse in the race for a final eight spot in the East this season.
