Savannah - Fans of the Atlanta Falcons gathered at a Publix Super Market in coastal Georgia to meet cheerleaders and the team mascot "Freddie Falcon," and to take part in Falcons Tailgate Team events.
The parking lot at Twelve Oaks Shopping Center on Abercorn Street in Savannah, Ga. was overflowing on Tuesday evening. Most of the shoppers were dressed in red and black and headed toward the Publix Super Market where The Atlanta Falcons Tailgate Team was on site.
During the 5-7 p.m. appearance, the Tailgate Team gave out random prizes, entered people to win tickets to games and rewarded customers who bought five or more select products from participating brands.

Freddie Falcon and two of the 2013 Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders, Naiz B. and Micki J., were on hand to lift the spirits of Falcons' fans. At this point last year in the 2012 regular season the Falcons were at 6-0, but, to date in 2013, their record is 1-5.

Atlanta Falcons players are often on-hand for appearances like this, but Naiz said it was the distance from Atlanta that kept players from participating in this event. The team is set to face the 0-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 20 in Atlanta. In the meantime, The Atlanta Falcons Tailgate Team brought smiles to the faces of the team's fans and handed-out "Rise Up" stickers to remind fans to keep the faith.
